Water Treatment In Ireland Today
Is Water Treatment Necessary
The phrases “water treatment systems” and “water treatment solutions” are being researched more in Ireland now than ever before. There are four main reasons for this increase.
1. Water Quality And Acid Rain.
Acid Water Problems
When I started out in water treatment fifteen years ago the water problems that were being encountered were at a much lower level than they are today. One example is Iron in water. Back then the hightest levels were ten to fifteen times the maximum permissable level with the majority being four to six times. Today levels of Iron in water can be up to one hundred times the maximum permissable level and sometimes higher. This also applies to Manganese and Hydrogen Sulphide. My personal opinion is that the increased acidity is causing the water to strip more minerals and contaminents from the rock and soil that it passes through and also the rock and gravel that surrounds the aquifers.
2. Increased Demand.
Every person is sure to be aware of the number of new homes that were built in this country over the last ten years, both urban and rural. What a lot of people are not aware of is that the majority of mains water supplied in towns and cities also comes from the same groundwater sources used by rural homes. this is the reason more and more local authorities are having to consider water treatment systems.
3. Awareness Of Water Treatment Solutions.
Nowadays the majority of people are aware of the availabiliy of water treatment systems to solve all of their water

quality problems. A generation ago most people were unaware of these solutions and just accepted that they had to live with the problems. The hot water cylinder, pipework. boiler and pump were replaced every few years as a matter of course.
